Humphris Funerals had the great honour of arranging and conducting the funeral of Stephanie Higham. Stephanie aged 102 was one of the last surviving Y-Service Wrens.
The Women’s Royal Naval Service (WRNS), also known as the Wrens, was formed in 1917 during the First World War, as a branch of the Royal Navy.
It was Stephanie’s job to intercept German Naval transmissions to give early warnings and this also included translating German documents, Stephanie was an interpreter in Germany towards the end of her illustrious Military career.
Funeral Manager Emma Hollis said: “It was a privilege to look after this remarkable lady and to learn about her fascinating story.”
